HOMEMADE OREOS
INGREDIENTS
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups flour
- ½ cup dark cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup butter (salted)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons milk
Frosting
- ½ cup butter (salted)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- In a big bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder
- In a separate bowl, combine the butter and sugars until creamed stir for a couple minutes (make sure the butter is softened)
- Add the egg, milk and vanilla (make sure to scrape the sides of the bowl)
- Add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined
- Scoop about 1 tbsp of dough and place on the lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart
- You should have 12 cookies per sheet
- Use the palm of your hand to press down on the cookies (grease your hand before, so the cookies don’t stick to you)
- Bake for 7-8 min
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a couple minutes until transferring them to a cooling rack
- For the frosting, combine everything in a bowl until all mixed together (it is easier to slowly add the powdered sugar while mixing) also make sure the butter is softened
- You want to mix the frosting until it is light and fluffy, you will mix for about 2-3 min
- Use a piping bag, or a ziplock bag to pipe the frosting onto the cooled cookies
- Pipe frosting on one cookie and use another cookie to top it like a sandwich
- Once you are done with all the cookies, enjoy!
