Grandma Barbara’s Dutch Almond Bars

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter 
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 
  • 1 1/2 cup flour 
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder 
  • 1/3 cup raspberry jam (or blackberry)
  • 1/2 cup nuts 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cream together sugar and butter in a medium sized bowl.
  2. Add the egg, almond extract, flour, and baking powder.
  3. Pour mixture into a 9x9 greased pan. 
  4. Top with jam and nuts. 
  5. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes.
